60% of the AP US History Exam is written response and is broken down into two sections. Section I, Part B (Part A are the Multiple Choice Questions) are the Short Answer Questions. You will have 40 minutes to respond to three SAQs. SAQs will account for 20% of your overall exam score. Section 2 contains the essays. You will have 100 minutes to respond to a Document Based Question (25% of Exam) and the Long Essay Question (15% of Exam). While you will only have one choice for the DBQ, you will have three topics to choose from for the LEQ; only one of which you must respond to.
